I recently bought a double acting solenoid from smc pneumatics but as I’ve been looking at it their seems to be only 1 connector port so how would I connect it without the 2 connectors like on a regular vex solenoid
The solenoids in the vex kit are (to my knowledge) basically 2 single acting solenoids stuck together, which is why they have two wires. You can just plug into the one port on the smc solenoid and it’ll work fine
Going off of what you said, SMC solenoids have a different cable than the new VEX ones. They are currently out of stock, and only VEX makes them to my knowledge, but here is the link (scroll down to the bottom of the list):
The new VEX double acting solenoids appear to actually be two single acting solenoids wired in such a way that only one of them can be active at a time, thus effectively making a double acting solenoid.
To control SMC double and single acting solenoids, you’ll need the solenoid driver cable (275-1417), which previously was available on this page:
Unfortunately it is sold out, so you’ll probably have to purchase one second hand.
Are these wires easy to find I need them by today and I don’t wanna pay for shipping so if they are in like local shops like Walmart I will be able to and get them
No, al of them are made by VEX. You can try alibaba, amazon, or ebay, but I doubt they’ll have them.
Unless you have Amazon Prime, these are mutually exclusive.
Ok thank you we got one solenoid working but we have 3 pistons so we just have to hope this new solenoid works
an alternative to using the old solenoid driver cable is to use the new solenoid driver cable (from the v5 kit) and only plug in one side to the solenoid. The other side can then be ziptied to something to stop it from flapping around
also side note, the old driver cables are still available if you switch your region to something other then the US (like Canada), because different regions have different warehouses. I’m not sure if you can ship to the US from there tho
Thank you so much i will try that we i get it
