SMF vs. PHPBB (latest versions)

I’m wondering which is better 'cause my new website (I hope!) is going to have a forum and I need to know which is better. Also looking for example sites. BTW I know about vBulletin but dont want to pay the $

What does vBulletin run?? I kind of like it better than “phpbb”… I don’t know of any sites that use SMF.

$160 and then $30 a year, i found some sites

the JHARBOUR forum (jharbour.com/forum) uses SMF
and POLOLU forum (pololu.com) uses phpBB

ive done research and i think i like phpBB better
