I want to buy some rope that is VEX Competition legal, but I don’t want to get the Winch and Pulley Kit. Anyone know the EXACT specifications on the rope used in the Winch and Pulley Kit? Nylon, Solid Braided (Ultimate Tensile Strength: 100lbs), 0.125" (3.18mm) is not good enough. I want to know the braid style (number of twists, which way, etc.), the number of strands, the thickness of the strands, the exact material of nylon (there are different types of nylon in the industry), the weight, etc.
A copy of the file (CAD) used for manufacturing wouldn’t hurt. Maybe detailed picture, and close-ups too! xD I just want to make sure the rope that I will be custom-made ordering is VEX Competition legal; meaning it must be an exact copy of the same rope that VEX uses.
Also, if anyone knows of a place I can get the rope that is VEX Competition legal, in the Lower Mainland, that would solve the questions of this post.
Thanks spen, I’ll probably order some if there’s no other choice.
So… No one knows the specs. of the rope… This is sad =( Anyways, if there are any stores in the Vancouver, BC area that sell VEX legal rope, please share <3.
OH NOES!! Someone’s on to me. xD I can’t tell you, but I’ll give you hints. I’m from a school with a very small robotics team. My team consists mainly of 3 Grade 12s. You will see us at all the lower-mainland competitions. This is my 3rd year. That should narrow it down enough. Hope to see you at the December competition, I’ll give you the answer to your question then. Good luck, and have fun!
