Spilled soda on my laptop

a few days ago i accidentally spilled soda on my laptop. it wasnt turned on when it spilled and i wiped it off immediately. now it wont turn on. i took the laptop apart to look at the inside and i saw that a little bit of soda had gotten on the motherboard and it had corroded a little. so i got some isopropyl and cleaned it off. when it is plugged in (charging) the light turns on saying that it knows it is plugged in, but it still wont turn on.

do i need a new motherboard or what?

My son is working this summer as a PC repair tech. He said, β€œIt’s dead.” Time for a new motherboard, and possibly keyboard, too, depending on how the keyboard is made. (My son is really a college student studying engineering and computer science.) Sorry about that.:frowning:

my dad just told me that a new laptop would cost less than a new motherboard

at least my hard drive still works so i wouldnt have to get a new one

You could always try looking on eBay for another dead laptop with a different problem, but the same or similar model. Than you could take the hopefully good motherboard out of that one and put it into yours.
