Why do you need a gps sensor for a turret? just use other sensors like the vision sensor or the new optical sensor.
GPS Sensor’s will make it much easier to aim because you can use coordinates and some math to change the angle of the turret every second. It can also easily calculate the distance from the high goal, and you could even calculate the exact amount of speed needed on the flywheel to throw the disk.
I remember my team playing Turning Point with a Vision Sensor to help auto-aim. It worked reasonably well…until we went to the state competition in a gym that had huge amounts of red background from the school’s color-scheme.
Could you possibly share some of the code? I’m not the best with vision sensors. Maybe they can do more than I thought.

It’s honestly more for controlling the speed of the flywheel than it is for aiming. I’d assume depending on how far you are away, a vision sensor would probably be a bit more accurate for aiming, but it’s very difficult to get accurate flywheel rpm with just the width of the object, and the distance sensor can’t reach that far, therefore gps would likely be the best option for that, which is why it’s very important to know whether gps fields will be used for tournament matches or not. Also, as another thought, vision sensors don’t really seem to stay calibrated to colors under different lighting, which would mess a lot with accuracy if you don’t recalibrate it properly at comp.
Also just to add on, you can determine the distance with the vision sensor. The further or closer you are the width of the object it is tracks will change. I have used this quite a bit and I have used the vision sensor in competitions, its just about finding the best values for it.
