My robot needs a winch assembly which will be under a lot of stress. I think I really need to use a HS shaft but the spools do not have any way to fit on one as far as I know. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I make a spool for the HS shaft. Should I just use the shaft itself as a spool?
I know it takes up a lot of space but I’ve seen teams use two high strength gears and spool the string between them.
Yes, I was just about to suggest that you take 2 HS 36 tooth gears, run standoffs or screws with spacers between them, and tie the rope around the standoffs/screws. This way it will still spool up nicely.
