Spring Cleaning

We’ve added a few forums … moved some around … renamed some.

Please check out the new structure before you post a thread, to make sure you are posting in the proper forum. Keeping things organized from the beginning will be very helpful as traffic to this site increases.

Thanks!

Nice work. I like the new forums that were added. Is there any way that on the portal page we can see which forum a thread is in?

It used to be on there, but in order to free up some space (so that everything wasn’t crunched into a tiny column) I removed it. I’ll see what I can do about maybe changing the layout of the threads list on the portal to a 2-lines-per-thread format, so we can include that information (forum, mainly).

That I second that option. (if you had any doubts)

im surprised they haven’t gotten rid of the FIRST Tech Challenge board yet

I expect it will stay there until it is no longer in use and since it sounds like VEX equipment will still be usable in the FTC next year.

Sorry but I’ve noticed a problem. It appears that the forum is shortening links to other sites. I’ve noticed this problem in several threads, specifically in the “York Regional Invitational” and the “Product Idea’s”. I’m guessing this is forum wide. It would appear that the forum is inserting “…” in the middle of the link and shortening it.

That is a feature of vBulletin, I believe – it shows a shortened link to the user, but if you click it you are getting the full URL. If you want to copy/paste the url, make sure you right click it and ‘copy link’ or ‘copy url’ (whichever your browser says) rather than copy/patse the text with the ‘…’ in it.

If after clicking the link, the ‘…’ still appears in the URL then there was a copy/paste mistake by the person who put the link there in the original post – they didn’t right click and hit ‘copy link’ as described above…

oh right we can still use vex metal…i probably won’t though unless im really short on metal from the new platform

BTW i’ve noticed a small glitch, it says you can only search every 10 seconds but then it says try back in a really high number (usually around 360+)
