So i have seen some of the topics on this but they say to clean it and we haven’t really done anything to it which may make something get inside the crevice near the joystick but i shall still try it. This started today when we were practicing driver skills and the joystick some how got pulled up which made it “sticky” on all sides of the right joystick so I pushed it back down and it seemed fine but whenever we would make it go left or right it would stick
so is there something we should do to fix this without opening and cleaning the controller if not then ill try and clean it and if i do are electronic dust cleaners cans enough to clean it?
I wouldn’t trust canned dust cleaners, as those may push the contaminants into the controller (I’ve had that happen with keyboards).
In my opinion, your saftest bet would be to just open it up.
Do you know roughly what contaminants are causing the stick (spilled soda, metal shavings, hardware getting old, etc.)?
Once our controller joysticks started becoming sticky after you pushed them in a certain direction far enough (closer they would snap back though) and we took the controller apart and put it back but that didn’t solve the problem. After some messing around though it seemed like the case on the controller was somehow too tight and was holding the joystick in place, which might have to do with the fact that we are using scuffs, but we tried pulling the case a little bit open and loosening the screws which fixed it, but (this is still happening) if you accidentally squeeze the handle it might become sticky again. We also tried replacing some parts (I don’t remember which ones but probably the joysticks) with parts from a broken controller (not for the same reason; the parts we replaced were good) and that didn’t work. This wasn’t for multiple directions though (only top-left for some reason), but I would recommend trying to loosen the screws and case a little bit first and if that doesn’t work then try taking it apart.
Agree, but don’t y’all treat the controller as a sacred object?
When, before touching it, you have to perform a special ritual to degrease your hands with baby wipes , demetalshave your jacket with big red magnet and, finally, to clear your mind by taking off your shoes and walking barefoot into the field with closed eyes, inhaling smell of freshly unpacked game objects… imagining your feet becoming omni wheels, until you feel yourself unstoppable 88W force of nature…
the right joy stick is a bit tilted to the right while the one thats good (the left one) is straight up soo is that a problem with the product or bc smth got in it?
nvm i fixed it the pin inside of the joystick cover or whatever the joystick rubber part is called i just pulled that off and the pin inside was badly twisted and bent but we’ve never done anything that would have that happen so thats mostly what im confused on
Controllers can, and do, get damaged in transit… going to/from competitions. We put our controllers into a hard case to protect them. After all, they are critical and approx $140 to replace (with tax/shipping).
