The surface tracker would be like an optical mouse, tracking the x,y movement of the surface under it, this would be a high accuracy alternative to using accelerometers and encoders.

I would take a 9DOF Accel, Gyro, Magentometer any day, I think it’s due for vex to do an overhaul of their sensors(and cortex), if not to allow us to use 3rd party sensors like the CMUCam.

Thank you for the product idea. As VEX grows, we are always looking to improve. VEX users’ feedback is key to pinpointing areas and ideas for improvement. A surface tracker is a very interesting method of tracking position. We will look into this as a potential sensor option for the future.
