Team 3018 - Techna PWN's Robot

And we think we found out why our motors kept over heatingand why we were going so slow. Tip: Never, ever, ever, ever, ever use riots on your drive train.

What are riots? I think i am missing something here.

~DK

I believe he meant rivets?

~Jordan

That would make since. Thanks. Cant say i have ever used the rivets but i have seen them and i am not sure i would trust them to hold up a heavy robot.

~DK

Yeah, I would only ever use them for prototyping a small mechanism or something. Believe me one of our teams have tried using them and if they’re anywhere that could have some force being put against them they will most likely fall apart. We’ve left robot parts on the field before. :stuck_out_tongue: So I personally wouldn’t trust them anywhere on a competing robot.

~Jordan

we dont use them at all, they dont even hold berring blocks properly for quick prototypes…
cant believe some robots with them dont FALL APART

Yes I meant rivets, sorry about the confusion. And yes I’m pretty sure we were using them correctly, they just don’t hold up like bolts.

Delta

Sheila is now faster and stronger than ever. I’m really looking forward to Worlds.

Delta

Both faster AND stronger? Ah, “Now without riots!”
I think you left off “new, improved, powerful, easier to use” from your hype.
Make sure you do some testing on a static-sprayed foam floor.

Rivets are fantastic. I have never had a single problem with them. Make sure the button head is on the opposite side of the bearing block and you will never have a single problem.

Same here, just watch that nothing (like a screw put through a gear) will ever run over the end of the rivet, which would pop it out…

Thank you guys for your concern, but we did use them correctly (we wouldn’t have gotten as far otherwise), and I’m pretty sure nothing was hitting it. They just vibrated loose. She’s been tested, and works better than she did before. And yeah, hype is good.

Can you post some pictures? I have talked to TPRMentor, but he hasn’t replied back, regarding pictures of arm. Thank you.

Very interesting robot. I talked to TPRmentor, regarding pictures of your robot, and was wondering if you can email me them. Basic pictures like the arm, base, and lift. On the lift are you using torque? 3:1?

Imran - I will get my team members to post photos & documentation on the robot shortly for you and others who have requested. We have been taking a short break. I will also email direct to you as you requested. Watch for a year end video on you tube as well.

Alright thanks alot.

would you mind sending this to me too???

We creamed with them in Chicago IL!

I’m curious about your guys’ low goal aligners. They use pneumatics right?
My team wants to do something like this for gateway but I’m not exactly sure how haha.
Can you guys put up pictures or a up close video? I need something to base our goal aligner idea off of. Also did you guys use single or double acting pistons for the goal aligner?
Thank you very much.

Take a look at the videos he posted. The explanation one. He tells you stuff that might help.
