Team 3309A is proud to reveal their newest robot, Gladiator! Gladiator has competed well in many Southern California competitions, and we look forward to the U.S. Championship and State competitions.
We use regular 393 motors on our catapult, geared for torque. We do not use a potentiometer, instead we use two limit switches: one at the top of the catapult and one at the bottom.
I love the reveal, but do you have any videos of it just shooting? I can’t really get a good idea of its actual abilities from just this video.
Also, how good at holding the ball is that strapping on the arm. A major problem that I’ve noticed with catapults is that the ball miss the arm when the intake tries to drop it in, and falls off of the robot.
I do not have a video currently, but I will post one as soon as I have the chance.
The ball always falls into our ball cup from our intake. We used to have the same problem you described, until we added little polycarbonate walls around the loading area of our catapult.
You guys always have fantastic robots, and I’ve had a lot of fun competing with your teams. You deserve to be at State, and I’m sure you will qualify for Worlds again this year. Good luck!
Sorry I’m a little late, but no, we have not qualified for State yet. However, we have a couple more chances to qualify and we are positive that one of them will get us there.
Sorry to make you wait so long, but we finally found a video from our most recent competition on December 22. We uploaded our robot skills run where we scored 227 points to win the skills competition.
Yes we did have four people on the field. We did not realize this would be a problem, the fourth member was only there to make loading a little easier. We will stick with three members in our future skills runs. Thank you for letting us know.
