Team name question

My team has been discussing a rebrand for our team and have been contemplating the name cyanide, it is not directly “profane” but do you think it is too bad for a team name.

Could it be any worse than “Team VIRUS” which was the name of our organization’s teams several years before the pandemic?

At first glance, it seems ok, because there are also teams called Arsenic and stuff, however since cyanide is notorious for specifically causing death, Im not sure its the best idea.

Also a “notoriously” common industrial chemical widely used for case hardening steel parts, a process know in industry as Liquid carburizing or cyaniding:

I don’t see a problem with it.

I understand your question but why cyanide, is it an inside joke or reference, what is the context and/or mock up logo, because those in itself are important!

We have gin through many c team names, we are looking for somthing original. And cyanide was one of our top 3 just for being cool and most original

Bro you are not convincing anyone that people think of cyanide as an industrial steel hardening chemical over a death causing chemical.

Based on the other team name examples in this thread, I would guess Cyanide would be allowed by the RECF as a team name, though I suppose it’s possible that there could be people at events (or within your school or another school that interacts with your team) who don’t like the idea, and if that seems like a possible, it would be a good idea to be cautious.

I mean, we have a team in our region called Armageddon. Idk how it would affect judges’ perception of your team (or if they’re even allowed to take that into account), but I think it would be fine.

I mean our team is named after a weapon used to deafen and blind people… but it doesn’t really change how people percieve our team… Theres also teams like “Arsenic” but people still like them

The question you asked was that “is it too bad for a team name.”
Bottom line, RECF will probably allow it, and it wouldn’t be too difficult to contact them if they turn out to not like it at some point.
But think about it differently.
I think there are plenty of different names that you can choose over this one that would be better, at least in my own opinion. Would your choice be allowed? Probably. Is it the best choice? Personally in my opinion no

Bruh…

Anyways, I’ve thought of one. How about “crescendo”?
