Hi

Is this supposed to be a thread about peoples progress? If so, i plan to have a vid up of my v1 bot by the end of this week.

Ya

My team is just now dismantling our robot. :stuck_out_tongue:

Same
We’re getting together tomorrow to take our machine apart. But my plan is to have a version released by the end of June.

We have a desired design for our drive base, a couple of prototypes for our lift system, and prototypes for a variety of passive and one motor cone grabbers. We have also started researching the online challenges we hope to submit entries for this year, and dividing them up among the students. Our head programmer is also working on a closed loop drive API that can be configured quickly for any standard drive base.

Our goal for the summer, in addition to brainstorming and prototyping for the coming season, is to lay groundwork for future years. We will be focusing on modular design, API development, and procedures for testing and organization.

Our team has crafted and tested many different forms of drive trains for this competition, as well as we have gotten our engineering notebook up to the point in which we are in our design. We have also talked among our vex organisation to collectively think about the possible best lift for the game.

I don’t understand designing a variety of drives before you actually get into competition. It’s basically a question of tank drive versus X-drive, where usually tank drive is preferred, but you don’t know if strafing is important until you have a full robot. And the other question is gear ratio and motor quantity, but you won’t know that until you have a full robot to test with, either.

Also, DR4B is without a doubt the best tall competition lift.

In this game its helpful because of the 10 and 20 point zone areas

You know you need at least 1.15 inches of clearance on your drive, so use 4-inch wheels. Beyond that, nothing is that crazy for chassis design this year.

If this is a thread about team progress, them let me chime in. We are on our 6th iteration. We have a base and a mobile goal intake (I really don’t like it) done currently. We had a RD4B, RD4-6B, and Scissor. We are trying more things out now.

I am almost done. Just waiting to steal the mobile goal lifter from @Cameron Schiller (if he has one :P)

Lol

Same. I just keep having issues that i didn’t account for… right now i’m moving some stuff on the drive to let it go over the starting bar.

Cool its still early season i only built my drive and lift drive works great lift is can lift the five pound havent done any high weights
