At the 23-24 VEX World Championships, I noticed that the referee seemed to be using a dedicated app to record team violations (Specifically, which rule was violated, such as). Where can I download this program? Or, is this program included in VEX TM?
referee.fyi is the website we used for Regional Championships - worked like a charm - you could have discussions with the team as to how a minor escalated to a major offense.
Head Referees at the World Champonship had access to a special instance of Referee FYI to record match and skills violations. This really helped with consistency as divisions had multiple HRs who could all access a shared anomaly log.
I see that on this website, only SKU or Event Name can be entered. Does this mean that our own unofficial matches cannot be recorded through this website?
Currently, I don’t have support for scrimmages or events that don’t post to Robotevents. It would be interesting to see how people would use this feature, but I also think it would lose a lot of value as a tool. I can look into ways that it could be used at scrimmages
Correct this is for published events. For ad-hoc - you don’t need this. Also note that this website updates from time to time and the data is not kept. So this is really for published events the weekend they happen - not a historical record.
We did have some data loss when I switched over to the new auth system. But now I’ve done things properly, and have a way to progressively update the data you store locally as the internal data model updates, it should be much easier to maintain. The challenges of local-first applications!
Generally speaking though yes, I view Referee FYI as a replacement for a paper anomaly log. While I am sure there are referees who maintain their paper logs after the event, I am against any features that allow notes or violations to carry over between events; every event should be a clean slate.
Agreed. I see it useful to have information past end of event. We do a reflection, and spot trends we can address at Drivers Meeting, or deepen our understanding the rules (early season we sometimes get it wrong). If it is a Code of Conduct / Student-centered it is nice to have the documentation from the event to forward to the RECF.
Thank you for this awesome resource!
ps: (I assume you plan on updating it for this season)
Yep, we already support rules for the new V5RC, VURC, VIQRC, and VAIRC seasons. Plan to add to support for ADC when released.
