I am talking to head of the mechanical engineering department at my college, Cedarville University, about holding a competition here next season.
The school is located about an hour from Columbus, 30 minutes from Dayton, 3.5 hours from Cleveland, 1.25 hours from Cincinnati, 2.5 hours for Indianapolis, and 3 hours from Louisville.
Is there a way to find out what teams are located in this area?
What teams would be interested in coming to a competition here?
I can pretty much guarantee that my team would be there… With one, two, or even three robots… We’ll have to see how it goes, but yes, we’d probably try and be there…
But you already knew that…
Oh, and you can count on me to help… Just give me some advance notice…
There would be a very good chance I would bring my teams. I coached 2 this year and will probably be adding a third for next season. We are in the Indianapolis area and there a quite a few teams around here.
Is there any chance the Map Search on RobotEvents could be enhanced to included a search for teams instead of just competitions?
A list of team numbers and school/organization affiliation would be great. Providing any type of contact information would be a bonus. The contact option could be restricted so it would only be available to the contact person for registered teams. This should greatly reduce the likelihood of being spammed.
We’ve not made this sort of information available in the past for the reason you hinted at – we don’t want our teams getting spammed. Making this available only to users with certain security is an interesting idea. I’ll put it on the project list.
In the meantime, if you want to publicize a new event send an email to [email protected] and we can have an REC Foundation person help you.
not sure. We host a regional ourselves every year (Batavia IL, 1 hour west of Chicago). We also usually go to the Wildstang Regional (Rolling Meadows, IL) in December and the Neeneh Regional in Wisconsin. Pending we go to those 3, I’m not sure if we will be going to a fourth one. But its definitely a possibility.
btw I am speaking for the 355’s
355A
355B
355C
355D
probably will have at least two more teams next year.
It also depends on when the regional will be. Our FRC team (2949 PWNAGE) will be working on build season January-February and usually try to not go to regionals during this time.
