There aren’t any specific rules prohibiting magnetism, although it needs to be clear that it is non-functional. You can look up this specific definition in the game manual.

Just as people 3D print license plate holders, as long as the license plates are visible and the respectable color you are good to use magnets provided that it has no alternative function other than no function at all.

Make sure that the magnets don’t stick to/ attract other robots, because that would be an alternative function. Other than that, the magnets should be fine (unless there is some rule somewhere in the game manual that I am missing).

Rule wise, everyone else here has already answered that. However, in this game where ramming is frequent and with a small chance of robots falling or getting damaged while hanging, you will want to make sure it is in safe space and very firmly secured to ensure the plates dont fall off.

Do we KNOW 100% that sensors are not affected by magnets? If a bot’s auton malfunctions (using sensors) and your bot has magnets… someone has some explaining to do.

The more likely situation is that plates will fall off from impacts and you’ll pull a minor warning.

The V5 screen cover itself has four magnets in them and it doesn’t negatively impact the electronic systems in any non-negligible way. As long as the magnets are a reasonable size then I don’t think the referees would see anything wrong with that.

Adding on to entropy, it is legal (see the rules for non-functional decorations and license plates) , but if your plate is just magnets it’ll most likely fall off when the robot hits the wall/another robot and/or has a rough barrier crossing. I would instead recommend one of these:
