My original post was just me trying to mess with the encrypted message post and then I changed my mind and made it an encrypted message instead. Every other time I have edited my message it has been for grammar and the reason didn’t really matter.
This sounds to me like a bit of boasting.
There were a lot of annoying posts early in the season that basically went like this:
Such posts were criticized for being pointless and unhelpful to the forum, and eventually they stopped.
I don’t have anything against the NZ teams or their decision to keep their designs private (after Gateway, who can blame them?). However, it is annoying when members of New Zealand teams brag about their robots’ abilities without releasing a single shred of information about the robots themselves. It’s not really helping anyone, nor is it making meaningful contribution to the forum. If you’re going to keep your designs secret, that’s your decision, but please don’t rub it in everyone else’s faces.
He’s not from NZ though
There are 3 things wrong with what you said.
- None of the nz teams are boasting about there robot I am from Las Vegas.
- They have released many scraps of information about their robots and shown videos to a few people.
- It does have meaningful contribution to the forum because it helps other teams understand just how good the nz teams are so that they work harder.
The quote you have there isnt even from a NZ team member, he just managed to sneakily find pictures and videos… I’m just trying to answer peoples questions, if you dont like it, you really dont have to read it We just think that people would like to get updates about our competitions, i certainly would from the competitions in USA and Singapore etc as long as everyone’s honest, it gives the competitive teams a good idea about where they stand, I would welcome anything like this from other places around the world
I would too. I tend to follow any thread about a competition anywhere in the world, even if videos etc. aren’t being released. It gives an indication of which regions are looking to be competitive, and also what teams within those regions are good. In some ways its a form of scouting long before worlds has even started! So if anyone is hosting/competing in a competition anywhere, make a thread about it and let us all know what’s going on!
This kinda makes me wonder… Each year, certain regions are always powerful. Why?
Seems to me like its a chain of events. If one good team is present in a region, other teams aim to compete with them, and can also use their ideas. Once teams get good, they are able to mentor and help their junior teams, which means the regions stay powerful across seasons too.
If there isn’t much experience in a region, it’s hard for that region to become competitive, as there isn’t anyone for them to aim to compete with, or to take ideas off.
How’d he go about doing that?
Lol I am a genius.
And what did you mean by “wheel legs”?
A powerful tool called Skype (if I have guessed correctly…)
Yes we talk over skype but they didn’t want me to have the video.
If anyone wants to join the skype chat add tabor473 on skype.
Could the robots traverse the field under the bridge?
Yes they could. And obviously they would have considering the amount of points they scored.
Actually no… that isn’t obvious… That actually changes a few things of what i had in mind of nz games.
Since that means they crossed the troughs, that immediately means that each alliance isnt fast enough to finish grabbing the sacks on their side of the field. This could ether mean they aren’t effective at grabbing wall sacks or that they don’t de-score in small chunks throughout the game. This can also mean that there could be a race to reach the opponent’s side, kind of like there was a race to the center goals during autonomous for gateway. But then there is also the possibility of what if they don’t travel to the opponent’s side until the end of the game, and what could that mean?
Yes, plus such a huge point point difference could have come from a giant trough descore. I’m assuming they could cross the troughs, but it isn’t necessary.
Exactly. Also everyone keep in mind that there is constant descoring back and forth and when there is 25 sacks in every goal and you do a last minute descore you win 250 to 0.
Ah, sorry… I missed that.
Out of curiosity, about how many sacks can the NZ bots score in one dump?
Varying amounts. I don’t know why everyone seems to think that every NZ robot is the same :o. No one has gone for a strategy of hoarding like 50+ and then scoring at the last minute or anything like that. A lot of the newer teams are still picking up 1 or 2 at a time. Some of the teams are picking up ~10 or more.
