I know that the functional plastic sheet for VRC competitions has limitations to thickness ( < 0.70" ) and material type; however, the rules are less than clear on the limits for the non-functional, decorative plastics.
Does anyone know if the non-functional acrylic/plexi/lexan/whatever have a maximum thickness? Rule R13 says, “Unless otherwise specified below, non-functional decorations are governed by all standard
Robot rules.” The rest of the rule does not mention plastics, so we aren’t sure what to do. Thanks!
0.07” is the maximum thickness for all plastic on your bot, because as you said, R13 states that non-functional decorations are governed by all standard rules.
Unless R10 (the plastic rule) is considered a non “standard rule” (why would it be), R13 tells you all you need to know
I’m not so sure about that, because by that logic all non-functional decorations must follow all other robot rules, however this can’t be the case because then all decorations would need to follow r6, which states robots may only be constructed from official vex products, and that would outlaw any kind of non-functional decoration at all.
so I’m not sure exactly what the manual means by "non-functional decorations are governed by all standard robot rules. " when they need to be exempt from r6 to even be allowed to exist.
I’m assuming that this was included mostly in terms of R3 (must pass inspection), R4 (must be safe), R5(must fit in sizing), R9 (give radio space), R16 (only 1 microcontroller, explicitly states that this includes as part of nonfunctional decoration), and R20 (all power must come from the battery), R25(keep power switch accessible).
All the other robot rules are irrelevant to non-functional decoration or contradict non-functional decoration.

I would say that it is perfectly fine to use as a non-functional decoration. What’s the worst they do? Tell you to take it off?
