Tips For Competitions in 2021-2022 year

I remember what competitions were like back in '18. What about now, and what are some things my team needs to do. We have a list of things to bring and it has everything we could need. What should we do? Thanks!

It’s pretty much the same! Just make sure to have you license plates, a lot of teams forget those.

We have them in the toolbox, or on the robot at all times. Thank you!

Yup! As long as you have a bunch of parts that you actually use on your robot, and tools and zip ties you can get through anything :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Zip-ties, we haven’t grabbed zip-ties. We must do that or we shall not do well. We must have many zip-ties.

I have been reading through and have seen you on here before. Good luck this season!

Thanks! You as well! The only other thing that we always forget is safety glasses plus a couple extra just in case.

We have four pairs, for our three-man team, and one of us wears glasses.

Tip 1: don’t forget everything that makes yor robot a robot
Tip 2: bring extras of EVERYTHING

Yeah, my team is also having issues with remembering.

I encourage our teams to have preventative maintenance (PM) lists in their notebook.

Pre-Event: Robot, notebook, batteries, charge controller, spare parts list, food, transportation, …

Pre-match: battery, check wiring, tighten shaft collars, …

Alright, we will use this. Thank you for the response!

our club has like 20 extra license plate kits that we give to teams when they forget a license plate, my team had given out three kits last year, and we only had like four competitions

Not new to this year, but if you have any parts on your robot that would be difficult to create at a competition if they failed, make sure to bring extras of those.

We would do this, except we haven’t enough to share. We have literally one extra, and it already has the school number.

bring every battery your org has and a charger for each
plenty of rubber bands for when they snap
extra motors if they over heat (make them easily accessible to make changing them out easy)

Tip 3: Network and form bonds with other teams, and establish yourself. So if you need help during a competition you will be able to receive the help, and same vise versa when they need help.
