Tips on how to win the Think Award at state when there are better teams trying to win it also

So we are trying to win the think award at state and are trying to figure out how we can win it when teams who are better than us are trying to go for it also. We have already looked at the requirements and are wanting to know any extra tips on how to win it.

You are, of course, practicing your interview skills, right? Emphasize during your interview the qualifications for “Think” award that your code/program meet. If the judges ask you at the end “Is there anything else you want to tell us?” the reiterate why you should receive the award.

Judges awards are nearly always decided by the interview.

If going for Think specifically, you would want to highlight your team’s programming in both the notebook, interview, and competition performance.

You must be able to meet all of the recommended categories for the Think Award and then some if there are several teams that are going for the one award. By having your entire team show a thorough understanding of everything programming-related while also having the ability to convey valuable information to the judges in your interview and notebook could potentially increase your chances of winning the award. In our experience with winning the award (Pikes Peak Sig 2024), we highlighted a unique feature about our programming strategy. Overall, you must be able to show the judges why you are the team who deserves the award over other teams. Good luck at state!

You mainly just need to explain your code a lot in the notebook, thats the most important Sadly its gonna be hard if theres stronger teams, since they’re auton will be stronger. However its very possible if you get a stronger notebook since thats the most important
