TM server error

I have set up a vex iq challenge -tournament in TM and it works fine until I try to connect to it with another computer or an android device. I get the web server running and I can connect to it with a browser from another computer or tablet. But if I try to connect with TM or TM mobile, no luck. With another PC, TM finds the tournament, but can’t connect. With mobile, I get to a point where the device gives me the code to enter to TM and when I do, the device gives me SERVER ERROR. What’s the problem?

I have been in touch with our rep on this issue. DWAB Technology is working on the problem.

Until they publish a new release you could use a previous version of TM.

Where can I get a previous version of the program?

Send me a private message with your email and I will reach out to you.

Same here, unable to connect due to a 500 error according to the server logs.

Is the immediate last version 2.2.520.0?

Nevermind, seems a hotfix release (2.2.556.0) was released after we began our tournament.

Update was released this morning that should fix your issues. Download it at https://vextm.dwabtech.com/

I tested the mobile scoring with the latest TM release and it is working as expected.

I connected the other computer via ethernet and got it working. But the android device still gives me the error and tells me to check web logs.

Here are some basic checks for issues that I typically see at events.

Make sure:

  • you have the latest installs of TM and the mobile app.
  • that TM is running.
  • that the web server is running (Tools > Start Web Server)
  • that the TM server doesn’t have a firewall that is blocking
  • that you record the IP address of your TM server ( Help > Get IP Address)
  • that both the Android and the TM server are on the same network (hooked to the same wireless) and preferably wired to the TM server
  • that you are using a 5 GHz wireless access point. You can test with a 2.4 GHz access point but during a competition the VEX wireless keys will cause interference and disconnects.
  • that you bring up the Mobile Devices when authorizing your Android (Tools > Mobile Devices).
  • that you enter in the IP of the server on the Android and authorized the code on the server.

One other test would be to see if you can connect to the web server from the Android. It should show you a team list if the devices can connect and the network is working properly.

  • Create a test tournament (or use a previous one)
  • Start the TM web server (Tools > Start Web Server)
  • Use a web browser on the Android and enter the IP address of the TM server in the address bar.

Lastly you could try to uninstall the software and reinstall.

If you are still can’t get it to work then contact Dwab Tech or your local Robot Events Rep for additional support. They do a great job.
