  8. *2713A = 33 pts - Tie breaker puts them here
  9. *8058A = 33 pts
  10. 4000 = 27 pts

Robot Skills scores **prior **to on-stage finals:
(Team 1103 finished with the highest score at 127, after the finale)

  1. *8192B = 121 pts
  2. 1103 = 119 pts
  3. 1447 = 113 pts
  4. *8192C = 111 pts Tie breaker puts them here
  5. *8192A = 111 pts
  6. 2213D = 107 pts
  7. 4773 = 105 pts
  8. *5559 = 103 pts
  9. 677 = 101 pts
  10. *8065A = 100 pts

How come there are not like 100 teams that had 117 and 121 as their robot skills scores. I know that i saw 2438A scored 117 before, i saw 3141 score 117? And ive seen a lot of other teams that can score that much. our robot scored 109 and at worlds we only scored like 83? I think we saw this problem before at one of our competitions that had “fresh new tubes”. I think the tubes had like banana peels inside of them because i saw a lot of teams score like 1 or 2 tubes, that probly could score they entire feild. Hopefully we will not have this problem with Gateway. :frowning:

I don’t know how to answer some of your questions, but I can assure you that the tubes used at the VRC World Championship were exactly the same as the ones you used all year. The only difference would be that brand-new tubes are considerably smoother and more slippery than old ones, and in your school you might not have handled a new tube since September. I had to get a new box of tubes for a tournament in February and the difference was noticeable. This might be something to keep in mind for Gateway – soft plastic scoring objects get scuffed over time and this can change the performance of robotic manipulators.

ya, next year my teams going to practice with new balls and barrels before worlds. And your right we used the same tubes all year and they got “un-slippery”. Next year we will make sure to practice with new game objects.:o

I saw 2438 in the Math division (same team that scored everything except for the preloads and hanging), they changed their scoring mechanism from a claw into an upward intake roller, like 3108(?). This may have affected their ability for the scores challenged, in exchange for descoring better(?).

Your getting 2438 mixed up with 2438B. 2438B was in the math division and did have a roller intake like 3018 not 3108. Im talking about team 2438A in the Engineering Division, the one with a claw.

The driver for that performed the score was in Math no, or their B team? I remember seeing him accepting the amaze award (then giving it to their programmer) with his stylish cape.

Great to see these teams attempting difficult autonomous, over 27 pts is pretty difficult this year and we had 10 teams do it ! 1103 should be in the VEX hall -of-fame !

Going back to previous years, is there a record book wiki page for the top 10 worlds skills list ?

The middle school Chinese teams blow me away , taking 5 of the top 10 spots. After watching many impressive Chinese machines in the engineering and math divisions.

I’m going to make a generalization:
**The Chinese teams across the board are the best drivers in VEX.

I wonder how many hours of practice they put into fine-tuning their skills ?

Ya, discobots guy is definitly right. At first i was confused on why were in engineering and not science or technology. I thought it would be a lot easier for us to win or do well in engineering, but boy was i wrong. Our match list was litterally the hardest most diabolical match list any team would have to deal with. We had to play against 2919, 2921, 2915, 8199 all these amazing chinese teams. Our alliance parterns were usually not working, and with some matches having vexnet issues it was seriously one of the hardest divisions out there. 2438A didn’t even get picked, same with 2587?!?!? I honestly was shocked when we got picked by the third seed, good think i talked to like every team and said we could “high hang”. Though Engineering lost in the finals, i still think it was one of the hardest divisions out there. :smiley:

This is true, but imo the puerto rican drivers were really good too. The fast, unstable robots that they drive are really well handled and did extremely well

The DiscoBots were partnered with the puerto rican alliance that won the Math Division. That alliance shut out the opponent in the math finals.

They are fantastic drivers ! However I’m curious to see how they stack up against Chinese drivers, what were the differences in skills scores ? I didn’t see any of their robots in the top 10 skills.

I don’t think that the Puerto Rican teams focused on skills compared to the main competition, like many of the teams. Perhaps they should of though :stuck_out_tongue:

2205A’s driver is probably the best driver I’ve ever seen in VRC, in terms of taking an ordinary robot to extraordinary levels. Using the exact same robot they had at the All-Star Challenge (plus two motors on arm, but same gearing), they made it to World finals. Somebody correct me if I’m wrong, but as of November, there had no presets or any driver-assisting code whatsoever.

I’ve attached a picture of the robot as it appeared at the All-Star Challenge.

They were a beastly #6 alliance that starved the opponents of all tubes, here are the finals of Math

Oh my gosh… watching their robot, that was definitely the fastest scoring I have ever seen in this game. The driving was amazing – watching even the first score they made, and then over and over again. 4 tubes all on different goals in the first 30 seconds, not to mention putting 4 of their opponents’ tubes into the ladder, too. And it didn’t stop there, either. Amazing.
