Tracking Wheel Question

Hello! My team is considering using tracking wheels for our next robot, and I noticed that some teams cut some wheels in half to reduce the width, but when using omni-wheels, this would negativeley impact the traction and thus the readings. My question is this:
Is it fine to cut the 2 inch wheels in half as long as they are pulled to the floor to maintain traction, or for increased accuracy should we forgo the cut at all?

You could test it and compare the results. I would be curious to see what you find out.
