Is it okay to use a trophy on your robot since it is a vex issued part?

You may use only parts in the VEX EDR catalog, cross listed parts with VEXIQ, and specified parts/materials in the robot section of the rules. please read the section carefully.

I think you can use one as a non-functional decoration though.

Yes it is, I’ve seen some teams do it.

Our instructor mentioned the idea, but none of us are willing to use or disassemble our trophies, for ours are earned few and far between.
