At a recent competition my team noticed that our regular axles were twisting after a day of use and due to limited parts and not being able to get high strength axles my team decided to try using vex turn tables as the pivot for our arm. It is run be four standard out of the box 393 motors and worked really well for scoring objects. I was wondering if anyone else had considered using them in this game. We found that the gear ratio with four motors provided enough strength to lift cubes and stars.
Turntables have been back ordered and we got word it will be a while until they come in. So nice idea but may not be enough time for you to execute this game.
The turntables only take so much before they start skipping and there is not the level of tricks you can do on a non-turntable 5:1 ratio lift. (zip tie the shafts, etc) But they are super easy to build a lift with. Four turntables on a 6 bar is one of our teams design this year. So far so good.
