Ultrasonic Calibration and Threshold

I am using two ultrasonic sensors to sense the Vex Skyrise base. They are facing at a forward angle inside the bot. However, they are not reading values under 8cm (the left side) and 10cm (the right side). I have tried the following: changing ports, replacing sensors, making sure they are not facing the ground, and changing the angle. However, it is not doing anything. Any advice or insight would be very helpful. Thank you for looking at my problem.

Sorry you are having this issue. I think that the most likely thing causing your problem is that the sensors are inside of your robot. If the sensor is in a confined space, the sound may be bouncing off of nearby structure which can cause it to give an incorrect value.

To see if this is your problem, I suggest that you unmount your sensor and test it in an open area away from walls or other objects that may cause interference with the item you are trying to “see” with the sensor.
