Under 15 inches?

I am designing my robot, and don’t know if my robot should be under 15 inches to go under the troughs. Will your team be under 15 inches?

My team, 4886a, robot will be able to go under the 15 inches. It’s why we are using an 8 bar.

What arm will you use if you are under 15 inches, but still try to go to the high goal?

An 8 bar, it allows us to start under 15 inches, but it raises to over 30 inches, its explained in our video

How many motors do you need to lift your 8 bar? It is impressive though.

Thanks! As of now we are going to be using 2 393 motors, 1 per side.

Will two motors be able to lift that without timing out, or are you using aluminum?

Haha we are using all aluminum. Plus we’ll have rubber bands.

OH:rolleyes:

But I’ll also say for the majority of our other teams, they will probably all be able to go under the trough.

Personally I was going to use a scissor lift, that is less than 15 inches.

I personally think that it is more important to go under the trough, than score the high goal. So first priority would be go under the trough.

For me, the 10 points per sack in the high goal is more important than going under the trough. If you stack enough sacks in the high goal, it is more beneficial than going under the troughs.

High goal should be pretty easy to descore, I dont have a field yet. Can anyone with a field have any input on how the sacks on the 30 inch goal stack up against just regular vibration of the goal? Say a collision of a robot?

The high goal is actually pretty hard todescore, because there is plexiglass in between the two colors goals.

Does anyone else have a comment on my original question, Will you be under 15 inches?

We will not be under 15 inches. We’re jumping the trough.

Well I’m saying if i were to collide with that goal with a considerable amount of force, how would the sacks behave to the force. I’m not saying physcially going up and descoring because I don’t think that would be ALL that hard.

The majority of teams will be able to go under the trough and if you can’t, you will be at a big disadvantage. The top goal is easily descored if you go under the trough to the other side and flick them off or something.

I love the idea of jumping the trough:D. I don’t have a field either, but I agree that the force of hitting the high goal should descore some sacks.
