This has come up a couple of times, G7 states …

<G7> During the qualification rounds, the red Alliance has the right to place its Robots on the field last. During the elimination rounds, the higher seeded Alliance has the right to place its Robots on the field last. Once a Team has placed its Robot on the field, its position cannot be readjusted prior to the Match. A Team that violates this rule will have its robots randomly repositioned by the referees.

First, I believe that in the elimination rounds the “higher seeded Alliance” is the better seeded alliance. Some have said that 8 is a higher number than 1, so the #8 seeded alliance is the higher seeded alliance. It seems that the #1 alliance has earned the right to place their robots last. Please confirm. Suggestion - change the wording to “better” if that is the case or give examples.

Next, say the #8 seed beats the #1 seed and play the #4 seed in the semis. #8 vs. #4. TM will make #8 the red alliance and #4 the blue alliance. Some believe that since the #8 alliance beat the #1 alliance they “assume the #1 seed now” and are now the higher seeded team. I believe the rule gives the advantage to the #4 seeded alliance to place their robots last vs the #8 seeded alliance. Please confirm.

Higher seeded means based on ranking, not number. The #1 alliance is the highest ranked seed, and the #8 alliance is the lowest.

If #8 beats #1 in the quarterfinals, #8 is still #8. They’re stuck with that number until the very end.
