Unofficial: Is the Engineering Notebook Mandatory?

My team is going to their first competition tomorrow. We were very late to the party and the only robot we’ve managed to put together is the Clawbot. But I figured that we need the experience any ways. Is the engineering notebook manadatory? I figured since we didn’t really “engineer” the clawbot, we don’t need to complete it?

The engineering notebook is NOT mandatory but highly recommended if you want to be in the running to win awards such as the design and excellence award.
