Unofficial response: Max on-field expansion

OP: https://vexforum.com/t/answered-max-on-field-expansion/44014/1

@ranOOm The 36" limit in <SG14> refers to a point-to-point limit, not a geometric shape. No horizontal dimension of any kind (key word: horizontal) can exceed 36".

A way to describe this rule and get the point across is that if I were to freeze the robot and time and space (using some magical power I don’t know about) at some random point in the match, and proceed to take a yardstick (or the 36" sizing tool, for that matter) and put it on any two random points on the robot that are the same height from the ground, 100% of the time, no matter what two points I use for sizing and no matter what point in the match is used, the points always measure 36" or under. As stated in the same rule, there is no height limit to expansion.

For that matter, a 36" square robot will be in violation of this rule, but a robot that potentially can go over 36" will still pass inspection, but will be subject to extra scrutiny in the match. A robot that tips over on accident while extended vertically is still subject to the 36" rule and consequent penalties under <SG14>.

Thanks for the clarification!
