@djohanneck As cool as this type of system would be, it would not count as not having a pneumatic system. <R12> lists 4 system options, of which the cortex and V5 systems are used without active pneumatics:

So the only pneumatic components that could be used without falling under the category of using pneumatics would be pneumatic tubing. Any tanks or selenoids would automatically put you into the category of using pneumatics.

That’s a shame. It stifles innovation. The same job could be done using only a capped cylinder as a dampener. No hoses or a tank. This can hardly be called a “system.”

I agree. This kind of mechanism would be very cool, and its passivity could surely be utilized in very creative ways
