Hi there - I noticed yesterday that all of the vexrobotics.com/wiki/ pages are now offline?? Google still shows them in search results (try “vex wiki power expander” for example) but when you click on Google’s result (or just click on https://www.vexrobotics.com/wiki/Power_Expander ), it rerouts to the vex “batteries & chargers” page (not even the power expander page). When you try to go to the wiki home page, and many other wiki pages (including, say, the cortex wiki page), you get 404: Page not found.
Is there a way to access the content that used to be there? Or is all of the information from the wiki contained in the “product info” tabs at the bottom of each product page? It seems like I always found obscure, useful information on the wiki pages that I could not find anywhere else, even if the pages themselves looked like they were from a 1997 website.
It would at least be nice if the wiki pages rerouted to the actual product page if that’s where the information now resides.
There may be an official way, so we’ll see what they tell you. However, my unofficial answer is to try the “wayback machine” at the internet archive. (Here: https://archive.org/web/ )Looks like they archived at least some of the wiki, though there’s no guarantee they got it all. Here’s a link to the power expander page through the wayback machine.
Thank you for the tip! I wasn’t looking for the power expander specifically, but hopefully I can start at your link above and navigate around the old site, and save information locally that appears to maybe not have made it through to the product pages.
I’m sure that there must be information on the old pages that is not product-specific that doesn’t have a clear “home” on a current product page. I sent a follow-up email to VEX requesting whether the non-product-specific information could be transferred to curriculum.vexrobotics.com.
If the user group here would like people to stop asking simplistic questions, it seems it would be helpful to keep providing the basic technical information in an easily accessible location online somewhere.
