I have a brain that is showing the update needed screen upon boot up and there is nothing there… this brain also is not recognizing anything that is plugged into port 1 making the driver control for the robot useless… I have booted the brain into DFU mode reinstalled the firmware and ran the updater again with no success to reviving port 1… any suggestions?
Aloha James,
It sounds like you did your due diligence. I would suggest talking directly to VEX about the issue and possible swapping your VEX IQ brain for a new one. It sounds like something is going on with port 1 that could be throwing off the rest of the brain functions. VEX is really helpful with situations like these.

The problem is that one of the devices in the first i2c bus is not working. It’s not a brain issue, it’s a sensor/motor issue.
What do you have in ports 2 & 3? Unplug everything, and see if the brain boots, without the update screen.
Assuming the brain boots, plug stuff in one at a time, until you find what’s causing the problem. Then, try plugging that device into port 1 and update it.
There’s a device stuck in some boot mode, which causes other things on the bus to not be able to communicate with the brain.
