usb to serial adapter combatibility

Is the usb to serial adapter comatible with linux? specifically ubuntu.

I have not tried it, but the Orange Vex USB to Serial adapter is a Prolific Chip Set…

Prolific has drivers for Red Hat on this Page. You might try Links to the other manufactures for Linux drivers.

I believe the linux program ‘Wine’ would allow windows drivers to be used. This might have been discussed before. Search the forums

I would also try posting on ubuntu forums, post if you ever get this working, I would love to try it on my hardly-used Ubuntu computer (well…soon to be server…maybe…:smiley: )

I’ve used on my ThinkPad T61 running 2.6.24-19-generic (ubuntu) without any problems. Shows up as /dev/ttyUSB#
