My team has used all of the three wire ports on our brain and on a triport expander (SONARs for auton). Would it be legal to have a smart wire come out of a smart port but the other end goes to a three wire cable that is then connected to a solenoid? If it is legal, would it be possible to use said wire to control pneumatics (perhaps I would have to still have a sensor on the other end of the smart port so the brain allows it to be initialized? Then I would have to figure out what writes to that sensor produce 1s and 0s and at what baudrate, but that should be determinable). I know it will be suggested that I just get another expander but I currently do not have access to one and would prefer a DIY solution.
If the SONARs only use one of their connectors for data and the other is just power, I suppose it could be possible to use a three wire splitter for the power port and then I would just have to make sure not to take input from both sensors at the same time.

This will not work.
Not legal for VRC and, if you were to try this with a VEX solenoid, it will probably damage it.
Just get another 3wire expander.
