Using the L3 and R3 buttons from a V2 controller on a V1 brain

Is there a way to use the L3 and R3 buttons on the V1 brain? I can get the controller to connect. I can create a blocks program that will use L3 and R3, but when I convert it to a V1 brain, the choice of those buttons go away.

Is there a way around this?

no, they are not available for IQ generation 1.
