using vex with halloween

Hey all, ive been thinking about using vex with this upcoming holiday. Any ideas are welcome!

i wonder what would happen if you would some how make a pumkin a remote control car… and just wait till some tried to trow it off of your porch

I hear ya. I haven’t gotten any sleep because of vex.

I was thinking of throwing a sheet onto my Hero 2007 Robot and run it outside around the house in circles Halloween Night with a tape recorded BOOO!

A moving bowl of candy…hands down.

How about a candy launcher. It would be cool to give out candy from your couch.

Or, mount a motor to your porch roof(probaly two motors) and have them attached to some kind of swinging rubber axe or something…

When they say trick or treat and all, give em candy, then we they turn… drop the axe(Via a release button) and have it drop towards em. Then after there scared… use motors to pull it back up.

cheers

ya it would be cool to have your bot dressed up with a bowl of candy on top and maby you could have your robot shoot silly string out of it:rolleyes:

deffinetlly the cany launcher!!!
it’d be hillarious to just nail kids with candy!!

lol yes!!! that would be so funny.

all those ideas are good, but you could also attach a camera to the robot and use it to go trick or treating with it, just put a sign that says ‘place candy here’.

how about using a camera with a walkie talkie and a arm that rings the doorbell!!
sure I don’t do halloween but how fun would it be to scare some kids?

of course the only problem is they would steal the robot…would you like that for halloween???

i went trick or treating with my robot it had an arm on it so i would drive up to the door run in to it to make it sound like i was knocking and they would open the door and see a robot their then i would come out-wherever i was hiding- and talk to them i only did it to three houses so i didn’t get alot of candy though but it got alot of laughs

Ah I missed that opportunity!!!

cool

if you need help with your robot

I know this post is a year late, but if i built a 4WD (or more) robot with a lot of speed, it would also have a lot of torque to climb steps if necessary. Or maybe an extra pair of 2WD wheels in the front, just like mythbusters did to climb steps. maybe a shiftable transmission or high motor power (or both). I could also have a (scissor lift) platform that lifts up and the people can put candy on it. I know it wouldn’t be able to go alone, but great for going with friends to.

but what really sucks is when all your friends sneak and take like 5 king sized bars, it’s really mean and steals the giving spirit of halloween. what really sucks though is that october is a month for FTC competition.

since it’s august i’ll start building.

I’m definitely going to try that. I know how to mount a small air cannon on a VEX robot that would probably hold tootsie rolls very nicely

has anyone here found or seen any extremely bright LEDs for sale? I was at a recessed lighting store, and the guy that i got lights from had a little stick with really bright leds.

I’ll look on the internet, but tell me if you find any really good bargains.

I want to use these with halloween, have several servos pan and spin them for safety.

I believe radio shack sells super bright LEDs that I used for the eyes of a robot that I built out of boxes and aluminum foil for my local library where I work. They were so bright that they kept shining in the little kids eyes when they walked in so I had to change them to less bright ones.

I think a good idea would be to use your door bell wireing and hook it into the robot to restart an autonomous mode that would trigger the robot to drop down (using arms attached to the roof or door frame) with a pot of candy in it’s inner chamber. Just folding arms and a room for a load of candy in the middle of the robot.
