I’ve heard that you can charge your battery while you have your battery plugged into the robot brain. Is this true?

yes, assuming you have updated to the battery firmware in vexos 1.0.1 or later. The battery will not charge as fast and if you were to try and run motors it may not charge at all, but if all you want to do is work on your program then charging while connected to the brain is fine.
