V5 Claw ideas

Why are you using V5 then?

We are upgrading our robot for competion

I have to go but now you know the information could you give ideas

Bye Good luck

A few things you need to know:

  1. A claw+arm CANNOT throw a ball
  2. A claw+arm will have a HARD time flipping a cap

I would recommend taking your arm and doing this (picture 1)

I would recommend making this and mounting it at an angle to hit ONE flag during the autonomous period (it won’t reload).

So, if you’re making specifically a flipper and not a cap lift, but also using a launcher (like a puncher, catapult, or flywheel), then you can use the “meta”, which consists of:

  • Sprocket (chain) gears spaced apart on a shaft with rubber bands between them (look up the “goliath intake”)
  • 3 of these will be stacked on top of each other and run by a single motor, probably with a chain connecting them
  • you may need to put a plate behind the rollers (about 2.5" away) if you plan to load any balls up to your launcher.
  • in order to load balls, they will spin down (as you look at it from the front, where the balls first contact it). For flipping caps, spin them up
For reference, this is what @Dave Macaroni was talking about.

Disclaimer: you don’t actually have to collect balls with this. You can just stick this on the back of your clawbot or something so you can easily flip caps without having to worry about grabbing them with a claw. However, it would require something of a redesign to implement a functioning launcher, so make changes at your discretion.

Hope that helps

yes, if you only plan on flipping caps on the ground and having a launcher too, try making a rubber band roller, it can intake balls and flip caps. but, if your really new to vex, jumping from clawbot to launcher may be a bit of a challenge. try just building a roller first, and see how you can go from there.
