I’m at the V5 exhibit at Worlds and just noticed that the new Vision Sensor has a Vex IQ port as well as a legacy port. Does this mean that Vex is planning to add some more cross-compatability features to future components? If so, what are the potential effects/benefits of this decision?
well, its cheaper to manufacture one sensor with 2 ports, than 2 sensors with one.
I was also thinking that since the new EDR game utilizes the Vision Sensor (color-coded flags), the new IQ game might as well in some way.
There had been mention in the VEX IQ forums of the vision sensor, so I figured it was cross-compatible, but I can’t back that up.
It is, I have the vision sensor working with IQ.
Even the RoboMatter stand had one of the football games implemented in IQ.
Do note the IQ Pongbot was at the Robot Mesh booth, not the Robomatter booth
I built that demo bot for worlds. It’s running Robot Mesh Python, which is fully compatible with V5 and the VEX Vision Sensor, for both platforms. You can view the pongbot source code online here: https://www.robotmesh.com/studio/248918
