You aren’t allowed to use any non-Vex motors. If you need more power, you could try using multiple motors in parallel. Out of curiosity, what mechanism are you having issues with?

Im making a car and it has a front, middle and rear differential. As I’m building it to climb, but due to size limitations I can only fit one motor that spins the spur gear.

Actually, the blue motor has a torque of 0.35 Nm, and the 5.5 W motor has a torque of 0.5 Nm.

If it’s legal to do so, I imagine it could be possible to modify the motors that way, but it is likely difficult. I would search through the forums and see if anyone’s posted the technical details of the internals of the motors.

VEX sells the Motor Controller 55 which is designed to run BEST competition motors (Large, Small), this might be a bit easier to use than to Frankenstein a VEX V5 Smart Motor.
