Vex 1103- Currahee CAD

Ok i started working on it again, i finished 1/2 of the claw, no pneumatics attached to it yet, i might finish it tonight.

Ok i just updated it, it is the claw attached to the bot, the pneumatics are too low so i have to raise those 1/2 ‘’ , also the standoff connected to the pneumatic piston on the claw is going though the C-Channel so i need to replace that.

Incredible! I’m glad you’re creating a CAD model of it - it deserves to be preserved.

Thanks! It really does deserve a CAD model! I should be done with the CAD of it within the next few weeks so make sure to keep checking this thread for updates!

Amazing work!

Will the inventor files be made avaliable for download, after this project is complete?

Thanks! And I will post the file. It will most likely be a link to media fire to download.

that is some super awesome and hard work cad-ing. i am currently having a gateway styled 1103 robot and this certainly helps me alot! i was wondering how he managed to do this, or that, and then with these pics, it solved most of my problems. keep up the good work!
though you should develop/improve your own gateway robots even more

Thanks! and ya, so far i probably have about 25 hrs of work put in, so i definately did work hard haha. It has a ton of constraints!

ONLY 25 HOURS??? Wow - you work fast…

I probably would have been at 50 well before I hit the point you are at right now.

Well, the chassis took about 10 hrs (including the time it took to make corrections on it). Then the Lift took about 15(including time to make corrections) and the claw (which i am still working on) took about 5 - so far.

So overall about 30 i guess, but thats not including getting distracted by facebook and other sites :stuck_out_tongue:

I still have a lot to do now that i think about it though. I still have to add cortex, batteries, lcd, and sensors. That will take a while. And i am emailing the file to josh so he can attach the lift accordingly because i cant see anything from the pictures he sent since his robot is so buried in cords!

It’s always the same with engineering, the last 10% of the design takes a lot longer. Nice job so far.

Thanks! I always try to get it in best detail as i can!

Are you going to release the CAD files for this, because I am trying to CAD my robot, and I would love to see how a pro does CAD.

Yes i will when i am finished. I am almost complete. But the details do matter do take awhile haha. Josh is actually attaching the lift and doing some other things because the pictures he sent are not 100% crystal clear so i cant tell exactly where they go. He said he would send the file back to me when he is done, and he is near complete, so once he is done i will finish it up and then upload it to mediafire and ill give out the link. Its been a work in progress!

It’s good to see that someone is preserving such a great bot.

WOW! I just got the CAD back and it looks amazing! He really did work on it! He basically changed a few things wrong on the lift and chassis. Also made some more sub-assemblies. He also changed the material of the parts so it looks excellent in that part also! He did alot and deserves credit on this. Here is just one picture of it! I will give out the link once i make sure that it is complete

WOW, That is soooo detailed!

Wow, you really did a good job on this! Congratulations, it looks beautiful. Shows how great a full CAD model of an amazing robot can be.

Again, awesome job!

Dakota. I have a challenge for you, can your wire it like Titan did? But then again it MIGHT take away from the awesomeness of the CAD.

Just make sure i’d say this again:
Josh did do alot of the stuff on this so make sure to give him credit!!!
As far as i know he placed the pneumatics a little bit differently on the claw, attached pneumatics to the chassis and lift, added sensors, and made a few parts of it into sub-assemblies to make it more organized. I just want to make sure people know that.
