VEX 5-axis arm robot

This robot was built a while back by our VP of Engineering, but one of our interns recently cleaned it up and programmed it. It is a 5-axis stationary arm robot – pretty cool.

Looks like you could build one of these robots with VEX!

Very nice, Piratech had an old three axis arm that I always wanted to expand upon.

Keep the Blog’s coming.

I really like your blog and getting to see the amazing robots that the interns have built - they are very talented. I know that it’s not all fun and games, but your interns really do have the best job!

I would love to have a job like working for VEX Robotics again. I used to work for a company that built cake decorating robots. They were used in bakeries to put pictures and artwork on cakes kind of like those booths where your picture can be put on a t-shirt or mug. That was a long time ago though.

Sounds like an applied 3D printer.

Actually, it was really more like an inkjet printer. The robot had an arm that moved on linear slides in and out, and left and right. On the end there were 4 airjet nozzles that sprayed food coloring (black, yellow, blue, red) on the cakes to reproduce the pictures.
