We need a Vex Forum App. For ease of convenience I would love this and (though I’m not a programmer of this magnitude) I feel it wouldn’t be the hardest to program

Why Isn't There A Vex Forum App?

Its been brought up before, I think the problem was that the forums are powered by esotalk, which lacks an API or RSS feed. It was also mentioned Vex Forums would migrate to Flarum, EsoTalk’s sucessor, once a stable version was released. Flarum does have an API so an app is probable once the forum transitions. @Xenon27 that is an old thread from when the forum was running esoTalk. Things have changed since then.

Here is an up-to-date state of affairs:

Vex Forum App/ Desktop program

The VEX Forum is already supported as a mobile progressive web app. And it supports delivering notifications through the browser. There would be literally no point in any further investment in making dedicated “apps” with the current feature set of Discourse. If you want a desktop “app,” just use a browser that supports notifications and bookmark the site (and/or make a shortcut to open the forum from outside your browser). TL;DR for the OP: Just “install” the VEX Forum as a progressive web app. There will probably be an option to do this somewhere in your browser’s menu. It will look and feel like an app installed on your phone, even though it technically is not.

Yes. Go to the VEX Forum within Safari, then go to Share > “Add to Home Screen”.

Yes, you must use Safari, and yes, Safari will always be used behind-the-scenes to “run” the PWA.

If you want to use any other browser to power your VEX Forum experience, the best you can do on iOS is a bookmark within said browser.

In addition to just using the PWA that has been discussed, there are also Discourse apps for both Android and iPhone that should work with vexforum.com (and any other Discourse forum).
