All,
I am happy to announce the release of our Bearing Pop-Rivets. These reusable plastic rivets lock on, holding Vex Bearing Flats in place. To remove the rivets, it is simple to push the rear pin out with a fingernail and release it.
I think they are design to just hold the bearings but if you can get the spacing right and whatever you are attaching isn’t a structural element you can probably use them for anything.
They do work for other things, but not as well. The bearings are uniquely suited to their usage. The bearings have tabs which snap into the Vex square holes, handling all the shear forces of the bearing load. The rivet then just needs to hold the bearing onto the metal.
They work best when going through a round hole as part of their attachment, such as the ones in the bearing flats, pillow blocks, and other Vex plastic components.
