Vex Brain Stuck in "Test Mode" and not Seen by PC

My son and I were trying to get the Vex Brain connected to the PC and were meeting with some resistance. The brain seems to be in “test mode” and continually cycles through test mode as you push the buttons. In addition, the brain is not seen by PC (Windows or Mac). Any suggestions of what may be going on?
