Vex C++ Coding not connecting to brain

I’m trying to download my code into the brain, but when I press the download button, I get an alert saying that I don’t have a brain connected. How do I fix this problem?

If you don’t have a brain connected, that would be the first thing to try. Assuming you do, I would try the following:

  1. Make sure there is no other software running that talks to v5 brains (e.g., VEXos utility, VEXcode, etc).
  2. Try a different USB cable (ideally one that you already know works).
  3. Try connecting the cable to a different USB port on your computer.
  4. If possible, try downloading the same program to a different brain.

Also, VCS has been deprecated and replaced with VEXcode V5 text and VEXcode v5 blocks - you should upgrade.
