Perhaps I didn’t read the official rules properly, but I can’t seem to find an answer to this question. Can the springs on VEX EDR claw be used on competition robots if we disassemble the claw? For some parts of our robot (not on a claw-like mechanism), we think the spring might be better than rubber bands. But the spring by itself is not sold by VEX. So can we use the spring from the claw independently on a competition robot?
You’ve been allowed to rip apart clutches for their springs, so I expect you could rip apart the claw, too. If you want to be really sure, send an official question on the official site.
Can we then use any springs that are functionally the same?
No, since you would not be able to demonstrate they are identical to the ones VEX uses.
