VEX Coding Studio won't recognize attached VEX IQ brain

I am using a Mac, OS 10.11.6. The VEXos utility program can see and update the brain just fine, but VEX Coding studio always indicates that there is no device connected. Are Apple computers not supported? What programming environment will work?

Vex Coding Studio only supports V5.

So is there any software that works for the VEX IQ on an Mac?
