VEX Cortex Microcontroller & VEXnet Joystick

We would like to share some information with you regarding two highly-anticipated VEX products; the VEX Cortex Microcontroller and the VEXnet Joystick.

Unfortunately, both of these products have had their availability dates pushed back from what was originally anticipated. The information below provides some insight into why the delays were necessary and the timetable going forward.

When will the VEX Cortex Microcontroller and VEXnet Joystick be available for purchase?

Both of these products will be released at the VEX Robotics Competition World Championship, being held April 22-24 in Dallas. **They will be available for purchase at the competition as well as on the VEX Robotics Web site.

Why the delays on these products?

A final release on these products had to be delayed to ensure a high level of functionality for them when they came out. The hardware that is now in beta testing is stable and we’re currently focusing on the functionality of the programming software developed by our partners.

We wanted to make certain that when these products were released that they would work to their highest potential and that the software complementing them was complete and available.

The VEX Robotics team apologizes for the delay on these systems. We are as anxious as you are to see them get out the door and into your hands.

More information on the VEX Cortex Microcontroller and VEXnet Joystick is available here.

John,

Thanks very much for the update! We are of course looking forward to using these new products, but are happy you are taking the time needed to make sure everything works well together first.

Thanks again for the update,

  • Dean

Well, that’s disappointing - but thanks for taking the time to ensure their quality.

Any new news on the ARM9 VexPro

I found this ( http://content.vexrobotics.com/docs/CORTEX_Quick_Start_Guide_050710.pdf ) on the CORTEX wiki page and it tells quite a few details about both the CORTEX and the VEXnet Joystick.
